Two killed as container falls off bridge
According to the police, a container carrying prawn-feed had deposited its load at Kakinada and was returning to Repalle in Guntur district in the early hours of Wednesday.
Eluru: Two persons were killed when the container they were travelling in fell from a bridge into the agricultural fields 50-ft below at Chinchinada village in Yalamanchili mandal of West Godavari district on Wednesday.
According to the police, a container carrying prawn-feed had deposited its load at Kakinada and was returning to Repalle in Guntur district in the early hours of Wednesday.
At Chinchinada, the driver Pathan Sandhani Basha (36) of Ongole, lost control of the vehicle, hit the railing of the bridge and the container nose-dived 50-ft into the agricultural fields below. While Sandhani died on the spot, cleaner Pamulu who was seriously injured succumbed while being shifted to the government hospital.
Yalamanchili SI P Appa Rao and his team reached the spot and registered a case. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem to Narsapur Government Hospital.
