Hyderabad: A ninth standard girl student allegedly committed suicide by hanging on Thursday at her house in Banjara Colony under the Hayathnagar Police Station limits.

The girl’s mother, Meghavath Kala, a maidservant, lodged a complaint with the police stating that her 15-year-old daughter Meghavath Nandini, student of Sai Chaitanya Model School, had not been going to school for the last two days and therefore she had rebuked her daughter on Thursday for being reluctant to go to school.

Kala returned home after some time only to find her daughter hanging from the ceiling. Nandini’s father works as a truck driver.

Earlier, before lodging the complaint, the girl’s family is learnt to have rushed to her school in a fit of rage and physically assaulted the principal Vani holding her responsible for Nandini’s death.

They alleged that Vani used to scold the girl often for not completing her home work which made her feel humiliated and drove her to take the extreme step. The Hayatnagar police have registered a case.
