Intermediate girl ends life; two taken into custody
A 16-year-old girl committed suicide in Lakshmapur village of Shameerpet mandal on Tuesday allegedly due to harassment by two persons professing love.
Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl committed suicide in Lakshmapur village of Shameerpet mandal on Tuesday allegedly due to harassment by two persons professing love.
The incident came to light on Thursday, after the girl’s family lodged a complaint with the police. According to the police, Sharanya, daughter of Y Mallesh and second year Intermediate student at Balaji Venkateswara Swamy Junior College in Kesavaram, returned home from college on Tuesday and did household chores in the evening.
Late in the night, she hanged herself from the ceiling fan. Family members noticed the girl hanging on Wednesday morning and lodged a complaint suspecting that she might have taken the extreme step due to harassment by two persons. The police have registered a case.
The body has been sent for post-mortem. Two persons – one minor boy and an auto-rickshaw driver S Narsing Rao of the same village -- were picked up for questioning. It is suspected that the boy, also pursuing Intermediate, was troubling the girl saying he was in love with her, while Narsing Rao helped him in chasing the girl.
