​Godavarikhani (Peddapally): The Peddapally police on Tuesday arrested three persons and seized gold biscuits worth around Rs 28 lakh from them.

Addressing a press conference here, Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Vikram Jeet Duggal said that based on a tip-off, the police caught three persons near a jewellery shop at Patha Bazaar in Peddapally.

The police seized 10 gold biscuits each weighing around 100 grams each from Pola Ravishankar and Vishwanathula Ramesh of Warangal and Peddinti Srinivas of Hyderabad.

The three were arrested when they were waiting for an unknown customer to sell the gold biscuits, as per the deal settled by one Sudarshan of Hyderabad.

During the investigation, the accused confessed that the deal was to sell the gold biscuits at higher price in lieu of demonetised currency notes. The police handed over the gold biscuits to income tax officials.
