Four held for sexual assault on minor
Four persons, including two less-known assistant directors of the Telugu film industry, were arrested by the Banjara Hills police on charges of sexual assault on a minor girl. One more accused is at large.
​Hyderabad: Four persons, including two less-known assistant directors of the Telugu film industry, were arrested by the Banjara Hills police on charges of sexual assault on a minor girl. One more accused is at large.
The arrested persons have been identified as assistant directors Shaik Akbar, T Venka Reddy, production assistant N Papa Rao aka Ganesh and G Naveen Kumar of Moinabad. Efforts are underway to nab the absconding accused, Kumar, the police said.
According to the police, the girl was staying in her maternal uncle’s house at Indira Nagar in Banjara Hills. She was eagerly waiting for a chance to act in movies.
Taking advantage of this, the accused had lured her by offering a role in a movie and sexually abused. Police said all the accused abused the girl sexually for 17 days in different places at Indira Nagar, Chintal, Jeedimetla and Nandigama in Ranga Reddy district.
Later, they threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed this to anyone. However, the victim mustered courage and lodged a complaint with the police.
