​Hyderabad: Twenty-four-hours prior to New Year celebrations the city police seized huge quantity of drugs from a Nigerian, who has been staying illegally in the city.

Police recovered 125 grams of cocaine and 10 grams of heroin from the Nigerian, Chikezie Orji aka Michael. Apart from drugs, police seized one motor cycle, two mobile phones and cash worth Rs 90,000 from him.

According to police, the accused was selling the drugs in view of the New Year celebrations. Further investigations are underway to track the people who have purchased drugs from the accused.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, N Koti Reddy said Chikiezie has been getting the supplies from Emeka, an African national living in Sainikpuri. Efforts are on to nab the supplier.

Koti Reddy also said that Chikiezie arrived in India on an employment visa about four years back, which expired on January 6, 2014. The Nigerian was arrested a year later for illegally staying in the country.

After getting bail, the Nigerian returned to his place in Narsingi and shifted his residence to some other locality in the same area and developed more contacts for procuring narcotic drugs. Since then, he has been into drug trade, Koti Reddy said.

The Nigerian commutes on his motor cycle and delivers drugs to doorsteps. He was nabbed in Sultan Bazar while waiting to deliver the contraband to a prospective buyer.

The task force sleuths turned over the accused and the material seized from him to Sultan Bazar police for further proceedings.
