US citizen held for sharing child porn
A US citizen, currently staying at Madhapur, was arrested on Monday by the Crime Investigation Department (CID), in connection with child pornography.
Hyderabad: A US citizen, currently staying at Madhapur, was arrested on Monday by the Crime Investigation Department (CID), in connection with child pornography.
The 42-year-old James Kirk Jones, working for a multi-national law firm, was arrested following an alert from the Interpol, Inspector General of CID Sowmya Mishra said, in a release issued on Tuesday. The accused was remanded in judicial custody.
According to her, the CID had received Interpol input of an IP address from which child porngraphy was being shared and a case was registered under the provisions of Information Technology Act, 2000.
The accused was found downloading and uploading child pornography in the form of videos and images depicting children in very obscene, nude and vulgar form.
The premises belonging to the accused were searched under proper legal provisions and incriminating material was recovered, the CID official said.
The material seized included a laptop containing 29,288 items containing child pornographic videos and images, 490 Giga Tribe profiles and 24 twitter handlers sharing child pornography, an external hard drive containing adult pornography and an I-Phone containing adult pornography.
James Kirk confessed that he had developed a tendency to watch child pornography and had been downloading, watching and sharing such material since his childhood.
Further investigation into his activities in India is being carried out, the CID official said. Investigations are also underway to find out whether any of the twitter handlers and GigaTribe profiles belong to India.
