Shejwal (32), an aspirant for February 21 election to the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC), while returning home on the night of January 20 was knocked down by a car and then attacked by the accused trio -- Anil Digraskar, Rambhau Chavan and Rahul Gotarane -- with sharp edged weapons following an old enmity.

The accused were arrested from Shirdi yesterday. Police have also seized the car that was used for the murder. The murder on January 20 had led to tension in the sensitive Nashik Road area.
