​Hyderabad: Three persons were killed on the spot while two others sustained wounds when a speeding car rammed into another car from behind on the Outer Ring Road in Ghatkesar Police Station limits on Thursday evening.

The deceased were identified as M Tirumalesh, a DCM van driver, K Narsinga Rao, Municipal worker and V Karthik, a bus conductor – all aged between 30 and 35 years and residents of Hayatnagar, police said. Two others K Balaram and K Raghu were rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.

Ghatkesar police said, the five victims were returning from Yadagiri Gutta temple in a Maruti Zen car when the accident occurred. A speeding car, driven by Paritala Ravichandra, Manager of Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge Programme, residing at SR Nagar, rammed into the Zen car from behind when both cars were near the Musi River bridge on the ORR.

The impact of the accident was so serious that the three persons sitting on the rear seat of Maruti Zen car were killed on the spot, while two others sitting on the front side suffered injuries, police said adding that chicken pieces were found in the car driven by Ravichandra.

Ravichandra was sent to a private hospital for medical examination to ascertain whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Further investigations are underway, police said.
