​Hyderabad: Air intelligence wing of the Customs department found gold bars weighing 1.1 kg concealed in the socks of two passengers and detained them at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on Tuesday.

According to officials, the passengers arrived by an Air India flight from Jeddah. Since the customs officials had specific information, two passengers were isolated and on frisking them, gold biscuits concealed in their socks were found.

The gold biscuits worth Rs 32 lakh were seized from the passengers and Customs officials are questioning them to ascertain if they belong to any organised cartel involved in gold smuggling.
