Hyderabad: Customs officers on Sunday seized 2 kg gold worth Rs 59 lakh from a passenger at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here.

Based on specific intelligence, the Customs officers of Air Intelligence Unit, seized 2,000 gram of gold in 20 gold bars from a foreign origin valued at Rs 59.10 lakh, who arrived at the airport from Singapore by the Tiger Airways flight, a senior Customs official said.

The passenger arrived at early morning hours on Sunday. He had concealed eight gold bars, weighing 800 grams in LED lamp fixtures and 12 gold bars weighing 1,200 grams in his rectum, official said and added that investigation is underway.
