​Hyderabad: Rachakonda police arrested eight milk vendors and three businessmen for adulteration of milk with hazardous materials including chemicals.

Police seized huge quantity of Hydrogen Peroxide, soda, salt, milk powder and oil that were being used to adulterate the milk.

The arrested persons have been identified as Som Bhanu, Som Ramulu, K Janga Reddy, T Jangaiah, K Srinivas, D Kondal, K Kashinadham, B Harinadh – all the seven milk vendors living in and around Bhongir, K Mangilal of Boduppal, T Venkata Ramana Rao of Secunderabad and M Prabhakar of Abdullapurmet – all three businessmen.

Police said the milk vendors used to buy chemical and other material required for adulteration of the milk from these three businessmen.

Every day, they used to add Hydrogen Peroxide to milk to separate butter from milk the next morning. Then, they grind oil, soda, milk powder and water in a mixer grinder and add the derivative to the milk to maintain fat percentage.

This process makes milk harmful and all the 11 accused persons are quite aware of this. Despite, they had been doing the illegal business to make quick bucks, police said.
