Scholarship fraud: One more arrested
City police on Friday arrested Sub-Treasury Officer of Nalgonda, Gangula Purushottam Reddy, in connection with the scholarship fraud. With this, the number of officials arrested in this case rose to three.
​Hyderabad: City police on Friday arrested Sub-Treasury Officer of Nalgonda, Gangula Purushottam Reddy, in connection with the scholarship fraud. With this, the number of officials arrested in this case rose to three.
It may be recalled that two officials, Ajay Kumar Reddy, senior assistant in the Department of Treasuries and Accounts in Hyderabad and Balu Naik, senior assistant in Sub-Treasury office at Huzurnagar in Suryapet district, were arrested on March 4.
Police said the accused had colluded with some other officials and some private college managements, gained access to the office servers of the DTA illegally and credited Rs 71,13,000 to the account number of Sai Vikas Degree College in Kodad. The officials at the DTA grew suspicious over the suspicious claim and found that it was some insider’s job. A complaint was lodged with the CCS police.
