Woman held for killing her newborn baby
In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old woman was held for killing her infant son at a hospital in the wee hours of Monday. The baby was found dead in a bucket of water by the hospital staff.
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old woman was held for killing her infant son at a hospital in the wee hours of Monday. The baby was found dead in a bucket of water by the hospital staff.
The nurse overheard baby crying from the bathroom around 1.30 am and tried to open the door but failed. She immediately called for help and opened the door to find the baby dead and the lab technician of the hospital, G Hemaja profusely bleeding, police said. The staff nurse suspected something fishy and immediately informed the hospital management, who in turn called the police.
A police team from Raidurgam police station rushed to the hospital and ensured that Hemaja was provided treatment. Later, a case was registered against her for allegedly killing the baby, police said.
The police said that Hemaja killed her baby immediately after birth because the father of the baby ditched her and she wanted to keep it secret. Police added that further investigations were underway.
