Hyderabad: Rachakonda police arrested a cyber crook for cheating a techie by impersonating himself as the manager of Andhra Bank debit card division. The arrested was identified as Santosh Modi, a native of Jharkhand, living in New Delhi.

According to the police, the fraudster made a call to the techie by impersonating himself as the bank manager and sought his debit card details on the pretext that the card needs to be updated.

The victim, despite being a software engineer, fell for the trick and shared the details with the anonymous caller including the One Time Password (OTP).

Within no time, eight transactions were made using the details and an amount of Rs 2 lakh was debited from the victim’s account. Realising that he had been duped, the techie lodged a complaint with the police.
