Karimnagar: The police on Monday arrested two persons after Rs 73.22 lakh in demonetised currency was seized from them in Korutla town of Jagtial.

The two men identified as Abdul Aziz (29) and Sheikh Mohsin (28) posed as real estate businessmen, said Superintendent of Police Anantha Sarma.

"The duo was allegedly accepting the demonetised notes for land sales. They indulged in exchanging the banned notes with the help of some unidentified NRIs," Sarma said.

Acting on a tip-off, the police laid a trap on Sunday night and apprehended Aziz and Moshin near the Tahsildar's office and seized the demonetised currency from them.

Sarma said a sword, a car, an axe and some documents were also seized from them, adding that investigation is underway.
