Hyderabad: The South Zone police on Monday registered a case against a 50-year-old auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly raping his granddaughter’s 11-year-old friend.

According to Kalapathar police, the accused Mohammed Aslam, a neighbour of the victim, noticed the girl whenever she came to play with his granddaughter. A week ago, his family members went out of town leaving him alone.

Taking advantage of this, Aslam lured the girl offering to buy her chocolates, took her inside his house where he undressed the girl and sexually assaulted her.

He assaulted the girl repeatedly for four days and threatened to kill the girl if she revealed what happened inside his house, the police said quoting the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother.

However, the girl could not control the pain anymore and revealed everything to her mother on Sunday. A shocked mother lodged a complaint with the police on Monday morning, the police said.

Based on the complaint, the police registered a case against Aslam under the provisions of Indian Penal Code and also under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The girl has been sent for medical examination and efforts were on to arrest the accused, the police said.
