A 10-year-old boy and his grandfather suffered burns when a financier along with his wife poured kerosene and set them on fire in the early hours of Tuesday. The horrifying incident took place in Borabanda.
Hyderabad: A 10-year-old boy and his grandfather suffered burns when a financier along with his wife poured kerosene and set them on fire in the early hours of Tuesday. The horrifying incident took place in Borabanda.
According to the SR Nagar police, the boy Arun had come to his grandfather Yadaiah’s house to spend summer vacations. The duo slept outside their small house since it was hot inside. When they were fast asleep, some people poured kerosene on them and set them on fire in the wee hours of Tuesday.
As they are caught in flames, they raised alarm and neighbours came to their help. In the melee, the perpetrators fled the place, police said. The boy suffered 60 percent burns while Yadaiah escaped with minor burns.
The injured were taken to hospital where Yadaiah told police that financier N Shyam could be behind the attack. Following this, police went to Shyam’s house to question him but he was not found at home.
Police saw minor burns on his wife Lakshmi’s hands and suspected that she could be one of the attackers. They took Lakshmi into custody and questioned her. She admitted to the guilt and revealed that she along with her husband carried out the attack following financial issues with Yadaiah. Subsequently, Shyam was also taken into custody and a case of attempt to murder has been registered against them.
