​Hyderabad: Rachakonda police nabbed an interstate gang smuggling marijuana from Chhattisgarh and Odisha and selling it in Telangana and Maharashtra.

The arrested drug peddlers were identified as G Jogender, Ganga Kowari, Milan Haldar, T Pavan Kumar Rao, Durga Prasad Goud, Vivek Mandal, all from Odisha, Dharam Singh Das of Chhattisgarh and Devidas Pawar of Karnataka.

Police seized two Mahindra Bolero cars, 100 kg of marijuana concealed in 25 packets weighing 4 kg each, nine mobile phones and some cash from the accused.

Alerted by a patrol team, a police team from Adibhatla police station rushed to Outer Ring Road near Bonguluru and found two cars parked on the ORR against the rules. One of the occupants of the car was speaking to someone over phone, police said.

When the police team approached the cars, the occupants offered bribe to the police team to let them go. The police team grew suspicious and frisked the vehicles only to find marijuana concealed in 25 packets.

Even as the police team was searching one car, the drug peddlers tried to flee in another car but police nabbed them after a chase.

Police said the drug peddlers brought the contraband to deliver it to one Naidu at Ghatkesar but by sheer mistake they reached Bonguluru.

One of the peddlers was talking to Naidu over phone asking him for directions to reach Ghatkesar when police caught them. Further investigations are underway, police said.
