A former constable of the CRPF,  Metta Shankara Rao, who had  murdered seven persons, including two of his children at Mettapeta area under Jalumuru police station limits in Srikakulam district over family disputes in December 2010, was murdered by some unidentified persons on Friday near Dabbapadu under LN Peta police station limits in Srikakulam district.

Visakhapatnam/Srikakulam: A former constable of the CRPF, Metta Shankara Rao, who had murdered seven persons, including two of his children at Mettapeta area under Jalumuru police station limits in Srikakulam district over family disputes in December 2010, was murdered by some unidentified persons on Friday near Dabbapadu under LN Peta police station limits in Srikakulam district.

Locals found the dead body of Rao at Nagavalli river bed and alerted the police on Friday. The police said that Rao was murdered by some unidentified persons and his body was thrown into river Nagavalli.

The police said that Rao was acquitted by High Court due to lack of evidence and poor prosecution. He was awarded death sentence by a sessions court earlier. The LN Peta police retrieved the body and investigation is on to identify the culprits.

In the last three months, he started visiting his native village Mettapeta to discuss about his land properties with his friends in the village. According to Sarubujjili SI, B Ashok Babu, Shankara Rao was killed by his old rivals at Bobbili and the body was dumped at Vamsadhara river.
