Hyderabad: The Rachakonda police arrested Sangareddy Sub-Inspector K Laxma Reddy for allegedly subjecting his wife to domestic violence and dowry harassment. The arrest comes six months after the police official’s wife lodged a complaint.

According to the Malkajgiri police, Laxma Reddy’s wife K Jyothi lodged a complaint on November 29, 2016 alleging dowry harassment and domestic violence by her husband. A case was registered and the couple was sent for counselling. The couple was counselled in Kushaiguda and also in Sangareddy but the SI was not ready to change his behaviour.

On May 29, the couple was called for counselling at Kushaiguda, where they fought with each other and created public nuisance. Following the nuisance, the Malkajgiri police had no other option but to arrest Laxma Reddy.

It was during the counselling that Jyothi levelled allegations against Laxma Reddy that her husband had recorded her private videos by installing secret cameras in the house and was threatening to upload those videos online. She also alleged that her husband was a womaniser and resorted to objectionable acts with some women deliberately in front of her.
