Karimnagar: A 7th class student of Siddhartha School at Bharath Nagar here, reportedly due to sever academic pressure, soon after the prayer on Thursday, committed suicide by jumping from the terrace of the school.

The parents of the boy and students’ unions registered a criminal case against the school for mounting pressure on the student. The school authorities were ordered to close the school till the investigation was through.

I Town Inspector T Srinivas Rao registered a case and investigating.The deceased student was identified as Gurram Srikar Reddy (12). Srikar Reddy reportedly explained his parents about his inability to cope up with the coaching programme. But, there was no change in the parents’ perception, hence the 12-year-old boy took the extreme measure.

According to boy’s father G Shashidhar Reddy, resident of Mallapur under Dharmaram mandal, he got a call from the school management that his son was admitted to a private hospital after he jumped off the second floor.

“After reaching the hospital, I found that my son was no more,” he said. Shashidhar said that his son was mentally disturbed and might have committed suicide. Further, he said that he has no doubt on school management.

Meanwhile, DEO Rajiv, said that no school in the district would be allowed to run any programme except the main academic course.
