Dowry harassment drives housewife to suicide

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old woman committed suicide allegedly due to harassment for additional dowry.

According to Ibrahimpatnam police, the victim, D. Prashanti, resorted to the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling at her residence in Nagulapally on Wednesday night. She was married to one Bala Shivudu about two years ago.

However, she was allegedly being harassed for additional dowry for the last few months by her husband and in-laws which consequently drove her to suicide.

Ibrahimpatnam police began investigations after registering a case under Section 304B against Shivudu and his relatives.
