​Hyderabad: In a fortuitous game of faith, a ragpicker on Thursday found Rs 16 lakh in old currency, in a garbage at Vajpayee Nagar Colony in Neredmet. She handed over the notes of Rs 1000 and 500 to the police.

According to police, ragpicker Chanda Gangu Bai (60), a resident of Vinayak Nagar, stumbled upon a polythene bag containing Rs 16 lakh in old currency at Railway gate.

At first she could not believe herself, but later realising that these were of no use to her, she handed the bag to Neredmet police. The police seized the bag and registered a case and took up investigation.
