Hyderabad: A MBA student from Karimnagar was arrested by Rachakonda cyber cell for harassing a girl by creating a fake Facebook profile on her name and posting abusive messages to her friends. He also posted her photo and phone number on various adult websites.

According to police, the accused was identified as Racharla Naresh, a resident of Korutla, Karimnagar. As per the victims account, who is pursuing Engineering, she received a friend request from an unknown person on her Facebook account which she accepted and had a normal chat for few days and soon he started making livid remarks soliciting cybersex.

Vexed with his attitude she warned him and blocked him from her Facebook account. After a few days, one of her friends listed on her Facebook account informed her that he received friend request from her new profile and after accepting it he started getting vulgar messages. She also came to know that her mobile number had been posted on adult websites.

On receipt of the complaint, a case had been registered under various sections of IPC and IT Act.
The cyber cell of Rachakonda began investigation based on the technical evidence the culprit was tracked.

The police arrested the accused from his residence in Karimnagar and the mobile which was used for this offence was also seized. It contained the incriminating data to prove that he had committed the offence. The accused confessed to the police that he wanted to have a relation with the victim but since she blocked him and stopped responding to his messages, he decided to take revenge.

He created a fake Facebook profile on the name of victim and uploaded copied her photo from her Facebook account. Later, he started sending friend requests to most of her contacts and also sent indecent messages as if she is sending them.

The police remanded the accused to judicial custody. The police cautioned people to avoid accepting friend requests from strangers.

The case is being investigated by Mohammad Riyazuddin, Inspector of Police, Cyber Cell, Rachakonda with the assistance of Inspector Hari Krishna under the supervision of D Janaki, Additional DCP (Crimes), Rachakonda.
