Hyderabad: A girl studying Intermediate on Wednesday committed suicide due to alleged harassment by the management of the private college in Nagole under Hayathnagar police station limits.

P Shravya, 16, a resident of Valigonda, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri district, who was disturbed by the alleged harassment of the college management of Narayana branch in Nagole over payment of fees, was reluctant to go to college. She informed the same to her father.

But her father tried to convince her and accompanied her to the college on Wednesday. However, Shravya, who was upset, went upstairs to her hostel room and committed suicide by hanging. Her father who learnt about her extreme step immediately took her to a private hospital, but the doctors declared her brought dead.

Later, her father and other relatives blamed the college for her death and demanded that the police arrest those who were responsible for harassing her. Several student unions staged their protest in front of the college till late evening on Wednesday. While some of the unions also declared closure of various branches of Narayana throughout Telangana.
