Class 3 student attempts suicide after thrashing

Wanaparthy: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 3rd class student on Thursday tried to commit suicide by setting himself ablaze after dousing with kerosene.

It is learnt that the student, Anand was badly beaten by his headmaster Srinivas for not reciting a Telugu poem in the Government primary school in Sheripally of Srirangapur mandal in Wanaparthy district.

According to the reports, Anand unable to bear the insult took the extreme step.

The neighbours rushed him to Wanaparthy hospital and he was later shifted to Mahbubnagar hospital for better treatment. The condition of the student is critical, said hospital superintendent.

Balala Hakkula Sangham and Student unions demanded that stern action be taken against the headmaster.
