The superintendent of police of Prakasam district said on Wednesday, “On July 20, Duggineti Brahmaiah, a native of Nellore district, but living at Kodandaramapuram village in Pedacherlopalli mandal took his five-year-old daughter Sion to an RMP at Peda Eerlapadu for treatment. An unknown person asked his mobile to make a phone call and made friends with him there.

While trying for the call repeatedly, the man gave Rs 200 and asked Brahmaiah to bring alcohol offering help to carry his daughter. When the father of the girl returned, the unknown man fled with the girl and mobile phone. The police registered a kidnap case and searched the routes based on the mobile tower signal.

But two days later, the body of the girl was found and the kidnap case was modified as rape and murder. After getting a clue from a vegetable vendor at Peda Eerlapadu, the police searched for him for 40 days and arrested him near Ponnuru railway station.”

The SP said, “The accused, Rapuri Pedda Peraiah alias Potluri Mahesh is a native of Ponnalur. He has no proofs like Aadhaar, voter ID, ration card etc and has no permanent address.

He spends three or four days at one place and involves in house breakings and hundi thefts. He was accused in 21 theft cases and three non-bailable cases are pending against him. He recently came out from Khammam jail.”
