4 held for swindling Panchayat funds
The police officials on Thursday arrested three contractors and an assistant engineer for allegedly swindling the Panchayat funds to the tune of Rs 81 lakh. It is alleged that the contractors and the official swindled the money without carrying out any works. The incident came to light when the Ija Tahsildar complained to the police.

As per Tahasildar’s report, the authorities concerned have sanctioned complete bills for incomplete works of CC roads, drainages and underground water tanks under Ija Nagara Panchayat. Similarly, the contractors who were supposed to carryout works at one place showed the works in other place and took bills for doing nothing.Soon after the filing of complaint, the police arrested the contractors and the assistant engineer and sent them for judicial remand.
