Hyderabad: Depressed over not securing good marks in engineering exams, a 24-year-old girl committed suicide.

According to Hayathnagar police, the deceased, Y.V.S. Monika, a final year B. Tech student of Avanti Engineering College, resorted to the extreme step by hanging to the ceiling at her residence in AJ Colony in Hayathnagar on Friday night. She had reportedly secured a little over 50% marks in the first three years of engineering. However, she was reportedly told that those marks would not be of any help in ensuring a bright career. Consequently, she went into depression and committed suicide.

In another case, B. Shivakumar, 22, committed suicide by hanging to the ceiling at his residence in Dundigal on Friday night. Losses in scrap business is said to be the reason behind suicide, according to Dundigal police.
