Hyderabad: The Task Force on Thursday apprehended a fake Ayurvedic Doctor on charges of allegedly preparing Ayurvedic medicines using ghee, hair gels, talcum powder, neem leaves and coconut oil.

According to police, the accused Gopash Bhadra alias Dr G Biswas (BAMS) (39) a native of West Bengal was arrested from his ‘Joti clinic’ located in Gandhinagar. He claimed to be an expert in treating ailments related to skin diseases, piles, fistula and fissure and also printed pamphlets to advertise his clinic.

The accused who claimed to be a Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) doctor had earlier worked under other doctors in Chennai and gained some knowledge about the ailments. Later, he set up his own clinic in Hyderabad and changed his name to Dr Biswas. “By giving fake Ayurvedic medicines for the treatment of Piles, Fistula, Fissure and skin diseases, he collected money from gullible people and cheated them.

He is preparing fake Ayurvedic medicine by using ghee, hair gels, talcum powders, neem leaves, coconut oil etc. The Doctor does not know the full form of B.A.M.S and he is unable to read pamphlets printed by him,” said P Radha Kishan Rao, DCP, Task Force. On reliable information, Task Force team apprehended Gopash Bhadra and seized fake Ayurvedic medicines, printed pamphlets and other medical equipment from his clinic. He was handed over to Musheerabad police station for further investigation.
