4 booked under SC, ST Atrocities case
The Atmakur police arrested four persons for assaulting and abusing a Dalit at Nandikotkur on Saturday. All the four accused were produced before the media in the presence of Atmakur DSP SV Madhav Reddy at Nandikotkur police station.

Briefing about the arrest, the DSP said Shaik Salam Miah, Shaik Khuddus Ahmed, Shaik Firoz Khan and Shaik Mohammed Hasan, all residents of Nandikotkur, attacked one Pidatala Tirupathaiah, a fruit vendor. Besides attacking the fruit vendor, they also abused him with caste. The victim approached the police and lodged a complaint against them.
“Based on the complaint, we have filed a case under SC, ST Atrocities Act. All the arrested would be produced in the court for further action,” the DSP stated. Nandikotkur Circle Inspector Venkata Ramana, Sub Inspector Lakshminarayana and other police officials were present.
