Hyderabad: The Asif Nagar task force team on Thursday night conducted raids at an apartment in Mehdipatnam and caught three Nigerian drug peddlers with cocaine. The police, acting on a tip-off, raided the apartment. Another accused died while he was trying to escape from the police. The police raided Sri Sai Apartments in Ayodhya Nagar, Mehdipatnam on late Thursday night and caught three drug peddlers with possession of 20 gm cocaine in a rented flat on third floor of the apartment.
After conducting a search of the apartment, the police found seven passports in possession of the accused after which they were brought to the police station for questioning. Following the interrogation, the police raided the apartment and found another peddler escaping the apartment through the sewerage pipe. The fourth peddler was identified as Patrick Ojana (28).
“To escape, Patrick tried to get down through a sewerage pipe which broke in the midway and he crashed on to ground with severe injuries,” police said. Soon, Patrick was rushed to Osmania Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. Meanwhile, tension was created at Asif Nagar police station on Friday when Nigerians started gathering there in groups. Police were deployed in large numbers to control the situation and to keep the Nigerians at a bay.
