Khammam: An Intermediate first year student has allegedly committed suicide in her hostel room in Krishnaveni Junior College here on Friday. The deceased, Sandhya Rani, hailing from Mittapalli village of Thallada Mandal, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her room on Friday morning.
The College Management, without giving information to her parents and to police officials, had shifted the body to government hospital.
The incident came to light only after a few student union leaders, who came to know about the suicide, demanded the college management for explanation. The reasons for the student’s suicide are yet to be known.
ABVP stages dharna
The representatives of Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a dharna in front of Kirshnaveni Junior College, demanding the management for explanation on the suicide of Sandhya Rani. Speaking on the occasion, ABVP city president Srikanth alleged that some of the corporate colleges in Khammam have been running against the rules.
The managements were pressurising the students to get good results, thus indirectly provoking them to commit suicide, he criticised. These incidents became common in corporate colleges in the district, he pointed out. Srikanth demanded the officials to take immediate action on such colleges by investigating the mysterious death of Sandhya Rani of Krishnaveni Junior College. ABVP leaders Prudhvi Nayak, Eshwar, Naveen, Dilip, Sandeep, Sai, Hari and Prathap were present along with others.
