L B Nagar: The woes of the residents of Suryodaya Colony here seem unending as the works of laying new water pipes, which began about a fortnight ago, is still incomplete. With each passing day, the populace of the area is facing problems such as dust pollution, traffic snarls, among others.

Narasimha Reddy, a shop owner in the colony, complained, “The construction process goes on throughout the day and commuters have to take longer routes in order to get into the colony. Rather than being a boon, this has become a bane for us as of now.”

“Most of the time only 20 per cent of the workers are seen working. When we ask them when will the work finish, our queries fall on deaf ears,” lamented Mohan Reddy.
The pipeline is being laid in at 1.5 kilometre stretch. When contacted, subcontractor of the construction, Srinivas Reddy said, “We would take another two months to complete the work.”

When this reporter tried to inquire about the problems caused by this construction, Reddy left the area without answering the queries.
