Conspicuously Silent

Pawan did not move even an inch ahead in political work. The Jana Sena remains on paper. He maintains silence on several issues confronting both Teluguspeaking states

Now, it is official. Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party received the recognition of the Election Commission. When the nation was getting ready for the 2014 elections, the Power Star declared his intention to start a political outfit. But even after the polls, Jana Sena fails to rock. Pawan chose to remain away from the elections. This is still an enigma. The proclaimed objective of the party was to question the injustice done to the Telugu people and continue to fight for justice to both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Pawan was angered by the way the then UPA government divided the state. But, why is he silent even when many promises made to Andhra Pradesh at the time of state reorganization still remain unfulfilled? The special status for Andhra Pradesh is still elusive. Special packages to Rayalaseema and North coastal Andhra still remain a non-starter. The Centre did not even declare the Hudhud cyclone as national calamity though the city is represented by the BJP. The Union Budget and the Railway Budget did precious little for both the Telugu states. The Centre refuses to show any magnanimity to the residuary Andhra Pradesh in building a new capital. The state lost an economy of Hyderabad size due to bifurcation.

Even when Chandrababu Naidu is struggling to implement his loan waiver promise, the ally and the government at the Centre were intransigent. They have even distanced themselves from this key promise. When Japan and Singapore are coming forward to rebuild the new Andhra Pradesh, the NDA government refuses to travel an extra mile to help the state. The TDP leaders already started expressing their disenchantment at the Centre’s apathy. More surprisingly, the Union government could not even distribute all India officers between the two states. Chandrababu Naidu is caught in a catch-22 situation as the NDA government does not need his support to survive. The treatment meted out to Shiva Sena is a pointer to the allies like him. Precisely here Pawan, who has rendered unconditional support to BJP, can actually intervene. But, he opted to remain silent. He has been conspicuously silent on many issues. The Jana Sena leader does not even question all this. Pawan neither chose to mediate nor took a stand in either way.

Again silence was his style. Instead, he continues to plump for BJP without any gain for Telugu people. Pawan did not move even an inch ahead in political work. The Jana Sena remains on paper. When TDP and BJP are on a membership spree, one does not see any action in Jana Sena. All this raises serious doubts over the party and his political mission. The experience of Praja Rajyam already stares at mega family. Now, that Election Commission has accorded official recognition, one hopes to see Jana Sena among people. Given the Chiranjeevi fiasco, Pawan should have been more careful. But, Pawan Kalyan and his Jana Sena remain incomprehensible.
