Hyderabad: ELS Language Centers, headquartered in Princeton, New Jersey, USA is on its way to open the second Indian center at Vellore Institute of Technology, Amaravati campus (VIT-AP). An orientation program for the students was conducted on Saturday in Newton Hall, VIT-AP. The resource persons of the session were Deva Senapathy, GM, ELS Language Centers, Chennai, India, and Parvathy Ramachandran, Associate Instructor, ELS, Chennai, India. The programme was attended by the Vice President of VIT-AP campus, Sankar Viswanathan who felicitated the resource person of ELS with mementos. He displayed a keen interest in the commencement of the program and was avidly interested in the success of ELS center at VIT-AP.

Deva Senapathy conducted the session in a very interesting and student-friendly way; the students felt encouraged to clarify their queries after his presentation. Several questions regarding the programs offered by ELS were answered by the resource person, thus making the programme was highly interactive. Presently, ELS is going to offer Job Ready English Modules and IELTS Test Preparation at VIT-AP campus.

The orientation program ended with the certificate distribution among the STAR students of VIT-AP who successfully completed the first English program offered by ELS at the campus. The certificates were handed over to the students by Dr. Subbalakshmi A.V.V.S, coordinator-STAR students. The confidence with which some of the STAR students shared their learning experience with audience at ELS center, gave a glimpse of the success of the center which can be expected in future. VIT’s new initiative called STARS (Support The Advancement of Rural Students) aims to provide opportunities to the underprivileged rural students to pursue quality higher education. The scheme will be implemented in the thirteen Districts of Andhra Pradesh namely Anantapur, Chittoor, East Godavari, Guntur, Kadapa, Nellore, Krishna, Prakasam, Kurnool, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and West Godavari.
