Andhra University Vice-Chancellor GSN Raju on Monday announced the up gradation of three programmes into Departments. “The programmes of journalism and mass communication, music and dance and physical education have been upgraded to facilitate introduction of new postgraduate programmes and to intensify research in all the fields of specialisations and get more research projects and funds,” said Raju.
Hereafter, these three would be called as Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Department of Physical Education and Department of Music and Dance. Till now, there is no department status for these programmes.
Professor Raju said that the department status to these programmes would help them to increase activity of foreign collaborations, research projects and funding from all national and international bodies. It is also possible to provide consultancy through these newly formed departments and also to get funds for conduct of conferences, seminars and symposia.
The University would encourage faculty to apply for more number of research projects and every teacher should have projects and publications, he stated.
