We are ready to conduct test before deadline: VC
Hyderabad: Post-graduate medical aspirants have been strongly opposing handing over responsibility to NTR University of Health Sciences to conduct PGMET again. Several students have openly demanded the Governor ESL Narasimhan to entrust the job to some other ‘credible’ institution. “Every wing of the varsity was tainted. We cannot trust examination department, registrar office, the academic group which is responsible to set the paper etc have been defiled. With such a bad track record, how can it be given the same work?” they questioned.
“Governor has the feedback of students’ sentiments. We hope he would take an appropriate decision,” Dr Vamshi, leader of JUDA told The Hans India.
Students’ contention was how the ‘key’ of the cancelled exam had come out along with the question paper. Normally, three to four set of papers are printed. But how the ‘key’ of the exact question paper had come out was the main suspicion.
“This is not possible without direct involvement of top brass of university staff. They knew about the leakage -of the final question paper that will be given- well in advance. They got kickbacks. Their role is obvious. So, in such a scenario, no person or institution would entrust the same work to the same varsity again,” Abhilash, another leader said.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of NTR varsity Dr Ravi Raju said that the university is ready to conduct the test again within the stipulated time. “The test will be in the last week of April or in the first week of May. We can declare the results in 10 to 12 days time and complete the entire counseling process by June first week. If any leftover seats are there, they can be done in another one week or so,” he told The Hans India.
Refusing to divulge the details of the re-examination, he said “I can assure you that everything will be transparent.” Top sources in the varsity maintained that the same hall ticket numbers may be continued for flexibility. “The staff that was drafted last time will be changed and the people who set the paper will also be new. The printing can be done at an undisclosed place,” sources said.
On the other hand, CID has been quizzing a student Ramana, who was in touch with the kingpin, who is suspected to belong to Manipal for more details. Sleuths revealed that another key man in the scam named Anju Singh- who was nabbed in Mumbai- has been operating the entire scam with the help of Ramana. CID has also questioned over fifteen top rankers in the last couple of days, sources informed.
