Hyderabad: The Education Common Entrance Test (Ed CET), scheduled to be held on June 2 was pre-poned to May 30, in view of the Appointed Day on June 2. The change was anticipated and the Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) chose to prepone it instead of deferment to avoid any problem of conducting the exam in two new states. The last date for submission of applications online will be April 24 and applicants can register themselves even up to April 30 with a late fee of Rs 500/. The test will be conducted in as many as 42 centres and Urdu medium candidates shall opt either Hyderabad or Kurnool as test centres. Degree final year students can also apply for the test and only Ed CET-2014 candidates will be eligible for reimbursement of tuition fee, Dr N Venkata Rao, convener of the exam made it clear. As many as 1,02,294 candidates have applied for the Ed CET so far for admission into two-year BEd course in 618 colleges across the state. Total number of seats available in convener quota was 50, 050 while in management quota, the seats are 16, 680.

The candidates are required to be present at the examination centre well before 11 am and even a one minute delay will not be allowed. The candidates may go through the user guide of EdCET-2014 on the website www.apedcet.org. The Convener further informed that there are 618 BEd colleges in the state and the number of seats under Convener’s quota is 50,050. He said the total number of seats available in management quota is 16,680. Prof Rao appealed to all the interested candidates to apply through online at the earliest to avoid last minute rush.
