OU writes to UGC for extension of date

Hyderabad: The State Eligibility Test (SET) may be postponed to the first week of February. The examination was formerly supposed to be held on January 4. An official of the varsity said there were no centres for the SET as other recruitment examinations were scheduled on the same day. “We will fall short of examination centres for SET. Students from various organizations approached us to postpone the examination as it would keep them from appearing for other recruitment exams. Besides, the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi festival falls on the same day,” the official said.

In this regard, the university has also written to the UGC for its approval. “The UGC gave permission for conducting the examination in the 2014. As the state got bifurcated, it gave an extension to conduct in the first week of January. We wrote to the UGC for an extension and are now waiting for the approval,” informed an official of the university. Osmania University has been accorded the permission to conduct the common test in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by the University Grants Commission (UGC) after the bifurcation of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.
