When you are mentally unwell, will you see a psychiatrist or psychologist? You can see one of them because both give therapy for mental illness, and are mental healthcare professionals. Psychologists give counselling to overcome depression, mental illness or anything related to the mind. Psychiatrists diagnose and treat the mental illness of the patients and prescribe medicines.

Psychology is the science of study of the mind and how the mind functions. Psychologists further specialize in child psychology or industrial psychology or human psychology. Psychologists practice psychology by studying human behaviour and earning a doctorate in the field. Psychology also refers to the mental characteristics of a group, country, or community.

The psychology of the children is different from adolescents and adults. Indian psychology is undetectable: their intriguing ways of corruption. Psychological is an adjective: relating to the mind. The psychological development of a child is the key to his/her growth, but the psychological development ceases as one grows older unless one engages in active and thoughtful pursuits.

Psychological moment refers to the most appropriate time to do something in order to achieve something. India has astrologers to identify the psychological moment. Psychological warfare is weakening an enemy’s morals without using weapons or by trying to change their attitude and belief. Did the US win against the USSR in the late 1980s by deploying psychological warfare?

Psychiatry is the study to treat of mental illness such as depression, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. Psychiatrists are trained doctors: study medicine and specialize in psychiatry along with medical training. Dr Perecherla is a psychiatrist working in London. He believes Indians too have depression like in the West.

Marilyn Monroe battled with chronic depression; she was constantly treated for her mental illness by a psychiatrist. Sigmund Freud the doctor and scientist of the 20th century developed psychoanalysis (studying unconscious conflicts of the mind, dreams and fantasies of the patient), theories on child sexuality and the ego. He treated people with psychological disorders in Vienna.
