Andhra Pradesh held its first EAMCET exam on May 8 and five days after, Telangana state is all set to hold its first EAMCET exam on Thursday with detailed security arrangements. Approximately 2.4 lakh students will appear for the first EAMCET exam in Telangana in 423 examination centres from which, 23 percent students are from AP and other states.

From the 2.4 lakh students, 1.39 lakh students are appearing for the Engineering exam and over 91,000 students for Medical exam. With strict measures taken by the officials, fingerprints of the students will be recorded before the exam begins.

In the engineering stream, 37 percent of students are from the general category while 25 percent are from the medical stream. Nearly 67 percent of the students appearing for the exam are from the reserved categories while 49 percent seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes and physically handicapped students.

TS EAMCET convener and JNTU Hyderabad Registrar Prof. N.V. Ramana Rao said that with the high number of students, competition among the reserved category students is likely to increase.

The TS EAMCET convener also informed that despite transport troubles, students will not be allowed into the exam halls if they are late unlike the AP EAMCET where students who were late by few minutes were allowed to appear for the exam. However, JNTU Hyderabad is making alternate travel arrangements for the students.
