Most human beings in general never introspect. It is not most, all humans and that is the truth. The question is why one should introspect? The answer is simple. Introspection is important if one wants to grow intellectually, spiritually and at the being level.

Most human beings in general never introspect. It is not most, all humans and that is the truth. The question is why one should introspect? The answer is simple. Introspection is important if one wants to grow intellectually, spiritually and at the being level.

The human being doesn’t introspect not because they do not want to do so, but they are created in such a way and hence they cannot introspect. Look at the beauty of human creation.

We have 5 sense organs in the physical forms and the sixth being, the mind which is strictly not a physical part of our body. All the five sense organs such as ear, eye, nose, skin and tongue are created only to sense (recognize) the world outside us.

To recognize, respond & react the world outside us only all these five sense organs are made in man. The reason being, the man has to deal the world outside him/her the most than dealing the world from within. It means, knowing the world outside oneself is more important than knowing the world within. That is only important for the biological existence of man and all animals. It is true for all life forms in general. If at all we have to consider the mind as yet another sense organ and only the mind has the ability to recognize the world within us, then we must accept that mind should be there in every life form in its own way.

But the mind cannot see the world outside us like how our other sense organs like ear, eye, nose, skin and tongue can do.

This analogy and anthology will explain why most people in corporate carry the relics of the behaviours of different animals and how the popular phrase ‘corporate jungle’ has originated.

The evolution has always created different species of life with different capabilities only to co-exist and exist for other. To be as successful predator and or not to be a prey, the sense organs are extremely important. More than knowing the world within, knowing the world outside is therefore important and that is why all sense organs are made for knowing the world outside.

When one is living in jungle, naturally the physical sense organs only will function as the ‘mind’ the sixth sense organs can at the best will feed only fear and worries. When the mind is full of fear, anxiety, uncertainty etc., only the physical sense organs will work. This is what happens in the case of most people in corporate.

They live more with the physical sense organs like different animals in the jungle and hence the scope for the sixth sense organ, the mind to function is limited. Further when one recognize the world outside with fear, the sense organ that does something to oneself also function poorly.

For example, when ear and eyes and nose become alert, the faculty of taste becomes primitive and that is why most animals taste or relish the food, the least. The faculty of taste is poorly developed in most animals. In the given opportunity, they have to quickly eat as much as they can. So are many corporate leaders, have less time to taste and eat the food they eat as they are always under tremendous work pressure.

The HR function must create fear free environment in corporate so that people will start using the sixth sense organ rather than limiting their life either with 3/5 or 4/5 of the physical sense organs.

To make a human being to be ‘perfect human being’ the corporate culture has to change from ‘jungle’ to ‘joyful’, only then an excellent and mutually supportive work culture can be built.
