National University of Singapore secured the first rank this year while Hong Kong University came second and Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology took the third position. Three of the top 25 universities on the list belong to Mainland China. Further, almost 70 universities from China featured on this list.

Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

From India, only three universities secured better than they had last year. No varsity from India made it to the top 30 best universities. Only three appeared in the top 50 and nine managed to make it to the top hundred spots.


"The main bright spot for India in the new publication is the performance of the Indian Institute of Science, which can be judged on a full set of data for the first time. It emerges as the country's leading representative, at 34th, and is fourth in Asia for the number of papers produced by each faculty member," said the QS rankings.
