To facilitate more women scientists from India, L’Oréal’s has invited Class XII students to apply for its ‘Young Women In Science’ scholarship programme. L’Oréal will award scholarships worth Rs 2.5 lakh each to 50 young women, granted over a period of four years for graduate studies in a scientific field from a recognised college or university in India.

Candidates will be interviewed in Mumbai, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. Candidates can apply online or download application forms from www.foryoungwomeninscience.com. Young women who have passed class XII exams from across India in the current academic year (ended March 2015), with a minimum of 85 per cent in PCM/PCB and not over 19 years of age as on May 31, are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

The programme, with the support of the Indian National Commission for Cooperation and UNESCO, has helped young women, passionate about science, to achieve their dreams and aspirations of pursuing a promising career in science. By providing financial assistance for an education in science, this scholarship enhances the need for Indian women to pursue scientific disciplines to address issues which will challenge India in the coming years.
