AIIMS MBBS results announced

New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) announced the results for its MBBS entrance exam on Thursday. The exam was conducted on June 1, 2015.

The rank-wise and roll number-wise shortlist can be accessed on AIIMS website.

In all, 14,417 candidates have been shortlisted, who will be counselled to fill the 672 seats available across seven AIIMS in seven different states.

AIIMS medical colleges are located in Delhi, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Patna (Bihar), Raipur (Chattisgarh), Rishikesh (Uttarakhand). During the counselling sessions, students are asked to choose their preferred location based on their rank in their respective categories (reserved or otherwise).

“AIIMS Delhi is always the first choice for most students, as it is the oldest and the best known,” said Dr Amit Gupta, AIIMS spokesperson.

“Drop-outs happen. For example, if Delhi students are shortlisted for regional AIIMS in other cities, they prefer to study in one of the four other medical colleges in Delhi,” he said.

“Because of this, we conduct three rounds of counselling session in July, August and September to fill up the vacant seats,” Gupta said.

“AIIMS follows the Supreme Court guideline that has set September 30th as the last date to fill the vacant seats. If the seats remain vacant after the 30th, we start the academic session. Our priority, however, is to fill all the seats,” said Dr Sanjeev Lalwani, registrar, AIIMS-Delhi.

“Some times we have to hold more than three counselling rounds to fill the seats, which is why we call four times more students for counselling than the number of seats available. The first round of counselling that takes place in July usually does not take more than four days,” Dr Lalwani added.
