Certain capability must be used sparingly and rarely and hence one should not be engaged in displaying or using them frequently is the message the Kori Bustard of Africa tells to the corporate. The bird Kori bustard is the heaviest flying bird so far known to the world.

The bird due to its heaviness generally would prefer to forage on ground. Only very rarely it takes off from the ground. When threatened and become totally option less to be on ground as it may endanger its life, only then it fly to safety. Bird that can fly is expected to fly when there is danger. But this bird does differently. Two possible management reasons, the corporate should derive from the above behaviour of Kori bustard.

The possible reasons being

1. The bird is too heavy and hence can defend its enemies easily

2. The bird has to spent lot of energy if it prefers to fly often

What the corporate leaders have to learn is that they should not engage in showing or displaying their capability unnecessarily. The capability should give confidence and not fear or weakness. The bird Kori bustard is indeed heavy. It is advantage as well as limitation to the bird. The advantage is that it can reasonably defend itself. The disadvantage is that it cannot fly easily.

The bird appears to be completely aware of the above facts. That is why it prefers to fly only rarely.

The management message is that one should always tries to defend the situation with own strength, knowledge and capability. Only when one takes up newer responsibilities and ownership, they become successful. But unfortunately most people would withdraw from the scene when they have to take up some newer responsibilities.

Look at the Koru bustard. It first tries to defend and only when it is helpless, flays away to a safer place.

A simple observation on the behaviour of this bird would give one of the finest leadership insights to the corporate people. Use your capability and never succumbs to the fear of failure and shy away from taking up newer challenges.
