Think about what people are doing on Facebook today. They\'re keeping up with their friends and family, but they\'re also building an image and identity for themselves, which in a sense is their brand. They\'re connecting with the audience that they want to connect to. It\'s almost a disadvantage if you\'re not on it now.” -Mark Zuckerberg, founder & CEO of Facebook

The word ‘image’ can evoke many meanings, and possibly an image of something or someone. Image means impression. Image is a representation of the external form of a person, thing; an abstract thing in art forms such as in paintings, sculptures. Image is a mental conception held in common by members of a group and symbolic of a basic attitude and orientation. An image is a resemblance of something.
Renaissance artists have produced several images of abstract forms: heaven, hell, recesses of the mind, idylls. Hindus worship the image of god represented in the form of idols carved out in stone, or painted, or carved out of wood. Image functions as a noun, and a verb. Image as a noun also refers to public perception of someone or something (what is the image of the BJP after it came to power at the Centre in May 2014? Is its image sullied in the wake of scandals?).
Image is an impression among the people of a person, organization, product, institution, a brand among others. Celebrities relentlessly aim to have an image of youthfulness, and radiance! As verb, image refers to representing the external form of someone or something such as sketching an image, drawing an image of something.
He imaged gods and goddesses, and made a living by selling them. A disorderly Lok Sabha (Indian Parliament’s Lower House) can tarnish its country’s democratic image. Image is an idea or vivid or graphic representation or description Image is a figure of speech. It means a popular conception of a person, institution, nation projected especially through the mass media.
Personality is the complex of characteristics, or traits that distinguishes an individual or a nation or a group from another. Personality is the totality of an individual’s behavioural and emotional tendencies; personality is an organization of the individual’s character traits, attitudes, habits, outlook among others.
Personality is an individual’s distinctive character that marks him or her out from others or their peers. Few people make conscientious efforts to have a pleasing and cheerful personality. Personality is also a celebrity, or a famous person. Public personalities scurry for the help of ‘brand or image consultants’ when their image is tarnished with their stupid acts.
