Hyderabad: The management, teaching and non-teaching employees and students of Maulana Azad National Urdu University passed a resolution on Wednesday condoling the passing away of former President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam who was its second Visitor.


Dr. Abdul Kalam died of a massive and sudden cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture to IIM students in Shillong on Tuesday.


During his first visit to MANUU in 2003 Dr. Kalam had asked the management to link Urdu with IT and start professional courses so as to make students employable in the market.


Addressing the first Convocation of MANUU in 2005 he had said that MANUU alone has the capacity to keep Urdu alive at national level by making connection with science and modern literature.


The resolution presented by In-Charge Vice Chancellor Prof. Khwaja M. Shahid and read out by In-Charge Registrar Prof. S M Rahmatullah said that following the suggestions of Dr. Abdul Kalam MANUU has made tremendous progress and have started P G and Ph. D. level course in IT, Computers, sciences, social sciences and languages. “We resolve to work tirelessly to fulfill the dream of Dr. Abdul Kalam of making India a great nation in the world,” the resolution said.
